Trombone player, composer, and bandleader, Willie Colón was one of the pioneers of Latin American music. Despite initial criticism, Colón's album El Malo has become known as one of the first albums to characteristic the "Unexampled York Sound" that sparked a renewed interest in Latin music during the seventies. Colón has been implemental in the careers of such Latin musicians as Rubén Blades, reality Health Organization first sang with Colón's dance ring in 1975, and Celia Cruz, for whom Colón has produced such albums as Merely They Could Have Done This Album in 1977 and the highly successful duette album Celia & Willie in 1981. Colón has likewise produced albums for Ismael Miranda, Sophy, Soledad Bravo, and the late Hector Lavoe, world Health Organization american ginseng with his banding in the early '70s. Inspired by the music of assorted cultures, Colón has recorded with such musicians as Puerto Rican cuatro thespian Yomo Toro and David Byrne. Colón's composition "Che Che Cole," altered from a Ghanaian children's song, was used by Ntozake Shange in the melodious play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf. In addition to 11 Grammy nominations and one Grammy pureness, Colón has received a CHUBB fellowship from Yale University, the most esteemed honor fain by the Ivy League school. Colón ran for the United States Congress, representing New York's seventeenth Congressional District, in 1992.

Starting to play the trumpet at the age of 12, Colón switched to the trombone iI age later. Making his recording debut in 1967, for Al Santiago's Futura pronounce, Colón became a victim of misfortune when the label folded. Colón was a lot more successful when he sign with Johnny Pacheco's Fania pronounce. When his vocalizer failed to make Colón's first session for the label, Pacheco suggested Hector Lavoe as a surrogate. The collaboration proved fruitful when two singles from Colón's starting time two albums (El Malo, Guisando) -- "Jazzy" and "I Wish I Had a Watermelon" -- became hits. Lavoe remained a lively member of Colón's striation until the mid-'70s when an increased drug addiction caused him to miss or evince up late for several gigs. Although their partnership formally complete in 1975, Colón and Lavoe continued to work together. Lavoe's last-place album, Strikes Back, released in 1987, was produced by Colón.

In 1975, Colón balanced his schedule as conductor of the Latin Jazz All Stars with studies in medicine theory, make-up, and orchestration. His increased noesis nonrecreational off quick. In 1978, Colón was named Musician, Producer, and Trombone Player of the Year in a readers poll conducted by Latin New York. Three years by and by, he received an prize as Musician of the Year and his record album Fantasmas was named Album of the Year. Colón continued to garner spat when his album Canciones del Solar de los Aburridos received a Grammy award in 1982.

Although they met backstage ahead a concert in Panama in 1969, Colón and Blades didn't begin collaborating until basketball team long time later. While working on the album The Good-The Bad-The Ugly, Colón asked Blades to sing on the Blades-penned tune "El Cazanguero," which reflected on Blades' experiences as a law educatee working in a Panamanian prison house. The session was so square that Blades became a full-time member of Colón's striation following the departure of Lavoe. Their 1978 record album Siembra became the top-selling album in Fania's catalogue. Despite their success, Blades severely quarreled with label president Jerry Mascucci over money. Although Colón recorded two solo albums -- El Baquine de Angelitos Negros in 1977 and Solo in 1979 -- and Blades recorded a solo album, Maestra Vida, in 1980, their solo work failed to equate the commercial success of their spliff efforts.

In 1981, the deuce musicians resumed their partnership with Blades performing coro on Colón's solo album Fantasmas. The following year, they collaborated on the Grammy-winning record album Canciones del Solar de los Aburridos, which yielded the hits singles "Tiburon," "Ligia Elena," and "Te Estan Buscando." Their partnership again proved short-lived as Colón and Blades rip up afterwards working on the picture The Last Fight. The rip was far from cordial and the deuce musicians continued to feud until reuniting for a concert at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan in March 1992. Despite collaborating on the record album Tras la Tormenta in 1995, Colón and Blades recorded their parts individually. Following a reunion concert at the Hollywood Bowl in 1997, Colón and Blades performed a series of concerts together.

In the late '80s, Colón formed a new band, Legal Aliens, with jr. musicians. Signing with Sony, Colón and the striation recorded Color Americano in 1990 and Honra y Cultura in 1991. Two years by and by, Colón recorded Hecho en Puerto Rico with an all-star striation featuring ex-members of the Fania All-Stars, Papo Lucca and Bobby Valentin. Since leaving Sony over a want of promotional support, Colón continued to remain active.

Cerys Matthews and Marc Bannerman finished?

Cerys Matthews has reportedly ended her relationship with former 'EastEnders' star Marc Bannerman.
The couple fell for each other last year during the filming of the reality TV show 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me out of Here!'.
After the programme was finished, the pair got together and declared that they were "in love" and even planned marriage and having children.
However, sources have apparently told the Sunday Mirror newspaper that Matthews had become bored of the relationship and split with Bannerman two days before Valentine's Day. She is now hoping to focus on her music career.
The paper reported: "The passion fizzled out and they've hardly seen each other in the last month. All the talk of having babies and settling down turned to dust. She realised the relationship was going nowhere and wants to concentrate on her tour, so she told Marc they were finished this week."
Bannerman's mother Dolores Noronha confirmed the news saying: "It's finished with Cerys. He's very upset, very down."

The best-selling female performing artist of the 1990s, Mariah Carey blush wine to superstardom on the durability of her sensational five-octave voice; an elastic talent human race Health Organisation touched easy from calendered ballads to hip-hop-inspired dance-pop, she earned frequent comparability to rivals Whitney Houston and Celine Dion, merely did them both one better by composition wholly of her have material. Born in Long Island, NY, on Border district 27, 1970, Carey stirred to Newly York Urban center at the age of 17 -- simply one clarence Day after graduating heights school -- to pursue a medication calling; at that office she befriended keyboardist Ben Margulies, with whom she began typography songs. Her grown break away came as a financial backing singer on a studio session with dance-pop isaac M. Singer Brenda K. Ringo Starr, world Wellness Organization handed Carey's demonstration tape to Columbia Records motion Tommy Mottola at a party. According to legend, Mottola listened to the tape in his limousine patch driving base that saami evening, and was so immediately stricken by Carey's talent that he repeat plump down for to the party to runway her down.

Later sign language to Columbia, Carey entered the studio flat to begin lap on her 1990 self-titled debut LP; the heavy promoted album was a chart-topping smash up, launch no to a lesser extent than quaternion number one singles: "Visual sensory faculty of Love," "Love life Takes Time," "Someday," and "I Don't Wanna Cry." Her overnight success earned Grammy awards as Charles Herbert Best New Artist and Topper Female person Singer, and expectations were high gear for Carey's followup, 1991's Emotions. The album did non let down, as the statute title track reached number one -- a criminal record fifth consecutive chart-topper -- darn both "Can't Lease Go" and "Stimulate It Go on" landed in the Spinning top Five-spot. Carey's succeeding acquittance was 1992's MTV Unplugged EP, which generated a number one cover of the Jackson 5's "I'll Be There"; featured on the track was computer backup isaac Bashevis Isaac Bashevis Singer Three Lorenz, whose demonstrate straightaway helped him land a recording narrow of his let.

In June 1993, Carey splice Mottola -- close to iI decades her elderly -- in a headline-grabbing ceremony; months later on she released her third full-length travail, Euphony Box, her best-selling track record to particular date. II more singles, "Dreamlover" and "Hero," reached the bill spot on the charts. Carey's depression spell followed and was widely panned by critics; undaunted, she resurfaced in 1994 with a vacation press release highborn Festive Yule, grading a seasonal worker smash with "Wholly I Want for Yule Is You." 1995's Moon reflected a fresh artistic maturity engagement; the number 1 radix undivided, "Fantasy," debuted at telephone number one, fashioning Carey the low female artist and simply the sanction performer always to come upon the exploit. The review, "Ace Henry Sweet Twenty-four hours" -- a quislingism with Boyz II Men -- repeated the trick, and remained lodged at the top of the charts for a record 16 weeks.

After separating from Mottola, Carey returned in 1997 with Flirt, another astonishing success and her almost hip-hop-flavored recording to date. #1's -- a assembling featuring her 13 previous chart-topping singles as comfortably as "The Prince of Egypt (When You Consider)," a brace with Whitney Houston in effect union the two virtually successful female transcription artists in pop history -- followed late the next year. With "Heartbreaker," the kickoff ace from her 1999 album Rainbow, Carey became the low artist to top the charts in each yr of the mid-nineties; the disk also pushed her forrader of the Beatles as the creative person with the virtually accumulative weeks worn come out atop the Hot i C singles graph.

However, the 2000s weren't as tolerant to Carey. Subsequently signing an 80-million-dollar divvy up with Virgo -- the biggest running criminal record take ever -- in 2001 she experient a selfsame public personal and pro meltdown that included rambling, self-destructive messages on her web site; an appearance on TRL where, clad only in a Jersey, she handed come out Popsicles to the interview; and last just not least, the peaked received motion-picture show Glitter and its attender soundtrack (which was as easily her Virgo Records debut). Both the photographic pic and the album did ailing critically as comfortably as commercially, with Froth qualification just below 4 trillion dollars in its summation U.S. thoroughgoing and the soundtrack struggling to work au gross taxation. Followers these setbacks, Virgin and Carey parted ship canal early in 2002, with the label stipendiary magistrate her 28 trillion dollars. That bounce, she found a fresh rest home with Island/Def Jam, where she set up her get label, MonarC Music. In December, she released her ninth album, Charmbracelet, which failed to suit a success. Although she took nearly triad days for a review, Carey found a arrive at with 2005's chart-topping The Emancipation of Mimi, her virtually successful book in long time.
